One Year Later

One not-so-consecutive year of blogging has passed. It was a year ago this past weekend that I was inspired to start a blog following BlogHer 08. What a year it has been!

I’ve changed jobs three time, moved once and found myself not knowing what to write about since I don’t think anyone (but my mom) reads my blog on a regular basis. That being said, I learned a lot in this past year and want to share a few fun tidbits with all of you:

  • It’s hard! Committing to something with absolutely no financial reinforcement is tough. I respect all those people who blog for a living (paid or unpaid) for their dedication.
  • Love what you write about! Pick a topic that means a lot to you. I change my mind a lot and a baking blog would probably be most appropriate to my interests right now but technology will always be a staple in my life.
  • Get ready! Cause no matter how small your circle of readers is, ever now and again you’ll get a nice little surprise on your blog. For me, that was the Chris Pirillo comment all those months ago. Seeing a comment from someone I respect was amazing.
A year from now I will hopefully have some more pearls of wisdom gained from this blogging adventure but until then, check back for the occasional posts.

Oh, Go MadMen Yourself!

I’ve never watched MadMen before although I’ve heard great reviews and feedback from friends and colleagues but their recent marketing campaign may have changed my mind. MadMenYourself is a site hosted by AMC that allows you to create a virtual representation of what you would look like in the MadMen world.

This concept isn’t ground breaking or new (we all remember YearbookYourself) but with it’s sleek characters and soothing music, it’s hard not to want to take a quick break from your work day to pretend you are at a 1960’s advertising agency being seduced by a very sexy Jon Hamm.

Take a few minutes and MadMen Yourself, it’ll be fun!
