The Internet is Awesome (and I hate high heels)!

So, as you may have guessed, my social networking/internet has failed miserably. What can I say, I’m addicted.

On a separate yet similar note, I was chatting with a few of my coworkers during our daily Starbuck’s trip and we were discussing high heels. I had mentioned that I recently encountered the editor-in-chief at Redbook and was amazed at her ability to walk in 5 inch heels and not experience any pain, while I die from pain in 2 inch heels. I realize that mine are Payless and her shoes are Prada but the innate ability of some women to rock the high heels, is amazing to me. I want to be one of those women.

In a quest for the truth, I ventured to Wikipedia looking for the history of the high heel. After reviewing the history of the high heel dating back to the 1500’s I scrolled down the entry and saw the section to “foot and tendon problems” and decided that my love of flats and aversion to high heels is a good love and I’ll stick with my current shoes choices.

Technology, oh how I love thee…

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what life would be like without technology. Just think about it, you wouldn’t be reading this and I wouldn’t be writing this (which could be a good or bad thing). I recently attended a conference and when I looked around in the ballroom or breakout rooms, everyone was using a laptop or twittering away on their iPhone. If felt almost barbaric to be using a notebook and pen to document the experience. That go me thinking…

What if the internet broke?!?! There would be no more twitter, yelp, plurk, pounce, facebook, myspace or other modern method of connection. I don’t know if I could make it through the day. I decided to challenge myself to stay away from those forms of communication and share what it’s like. For my job, I have to use a certain amount of technology but I’m going to try and avoid the above mentioned sites and see what it feels like. We will see what it’s like… I’m very curious.

Welcome!

I recently attended the Blogher conference as a non-blogger (eeek!). As you may have guessed, most folks I met didn’t really understand why I was there. Honestly, I wasn’t sure why I was there beyond learning about what inspires people to blog. I learned a lot from these awesome women bloggers and felt inspired to start my own blog. So here I am.

Keep an eye out for an updated Blogroll, featuring some of the bloggers that inspired me during the conference. Also, I’m working on a recap of the event to share on my blog.
